The optical panorama is measured from Earth. It fades before the viewpoint moves.
On a desktop, drag to look and use the wheel to change the field of view. Use the constellation button to show or hide the Earth-only line figures. In VR, face your left palm toward the headset. Double-tap its constellation control with your right index finger. Use your left index finger as a pointer for the travel panel. Point briefly or pinch once on a destination row. The panel hides before travel begins and stays hidden after arrival. Double-tap your left wrist with your right index finger to restore it. After departure, the blue marker points toward the Sun and the Solar System origin. The Earth-origin view has no separate home direction. No controller is required. Travel duration is compressed for display and is not a spacecraft simulation.
What is measured and what is transformed?
Gaia positions and published geometric distance estimates define the 3D points. Very bright Gaia gaps use an explicitly marked Hipparcos supplement. Apparent brightness changes only with catalog distance. The viewer does not reconstruct dust from a new direction.
The constellation overlay uses conventional Western J2000 line figures from d3-celestial. The IAU defines official constellation boundaries, but it does not define one official stick-figure style. The overlay is available only at Earth because the familiar figures depend on an Earth-centered perspective.
The Pleiades endpoint follows Alcyone's direction at a nearby cluster member's measured distance. The Orion endpoint uses θ¹ Orionis C as its distance anchor.
